The construction of Wyfold Court was commissioned by Edward Herman, a prominent MP, philanthropist and merchant who had become enormously wealthy from his dealings in the Lancashire cotton industry. He was also a builder and it is quite clear that Wyfold Court was both his passion and a showcase for the construction skills of the day. PJ Livesey Rural Heritage first heard of Wyfold Court through Bellway Homes, who were building a number of new homes within the grounds of the estate.
It was of key importance to Bellway Homes that the restoration of Wyfold Court was of the very highest standards, as it formed the centre point to the whole development within Henley Park. They also knew it was a project for a specialist company. Recognised throughout the construction industry for their ambitious restoration work, PJ Livesey Rural Heritage was their natural choice.
